Project: Range Rover - Dave F
|
The Criteria
Dave F. came to us with his Range Rover, and asked us if we could put a screen in, so that his passengers could watch DVD movies, and also use a Playstation for playing games on.
There was, however one essential criteria, the screen had to be hidden from view when not in use.

The Armrest
Luckily for us, the Range Rover has a very unique form of cupholder mounted underneath the central armrest.
This was simply removed, the monitor mounted, retrimmed in a suitable material, and then refitted.
Now, instead of the armrest turning upside down to reveal a cupholder, it now reveals a NecVox 5.6" colour monitor.
|
Now you see it . . .
And now you don`t.
You would never know that inside this centre console, is housed such an elaborate mechanisn, would you?
A simple socket was put at the base of the center console, so that the Sony Playstation could be simply unplugged and removed.

Viewed by All
As you can see, when it is in the upright position, the monitor is in the perfect place to be viewed
by the rear seat passengers.
Oh, and yes, that is another screen in the dash for the GPS Navigation system.

The Electronics
The Coleman DVD player is mounted underneath the shelf, and can not only play DVD movies, but can also play conventional Audio CD`s for the rear passengers.
The box above, is a VDO Dayton Navigation system.
