DND Services Ltd :: Project: Seat Ibiza 1994 - Tim G.

Project: Seat Ibiza 1994 - Tim G.

Tim is an addict. For him there is no hope. So desperate was he to win a trophy in 2001 with his car audio system, that he went on a quest. His quest was to not only phone us every other day at the shop, but on the days he didn`t phone he would come in to see us. Much as we love to see our friends, the conversation was always the same . . . . . .

. . . . . I want a trophy . . . . . I want a trophy . . . . . I want a trophy . . . . . . etc, etc.

We found that the only way to shut him up was to award him a trophy, for the most times we have ever been asked! It didn`t shut him up completely, but he did come back and ask us to do a bit of a build in his boot using his existing box, and to try to improve his spl score where we could.

Oh, and before anyone thinks of trying the same stunt to get a trophy, no-one could ever come close to Tim`s number of requests, so don`t even go there!!

Flat Surface

As ever, when starting a project, always begin with a flat surface, don`t worry if you end up with a very complex or curved shape, it is always easier to have a good surface to act as a reference point for the rest of the measurements

More Power Needed

One of the first things that was observed with Tim`s, and indeed most peoples system`s, is a lack of a good supply voltage at the amplifier. Without a good reserve of supply voltage, the amplifier can never be expected to function to its capacity.

Tim located a matching Audiobahn capacitor to go with his amp and subs.

The Window

Before the boot was soundproofed, all of the panels were made and shaped so that we could see exactly where they fitted, as there was not a lot of space to play with in this vehicle.

Here we can see the panel that goes in the boot floor, and a window that will show off the Audiobahn amplifier that is to be mounted in the spare wheel well. A pair of strobe lights will also be added under this panel.

Mirror

To complement the amount of chrome found on the Audiobahn capacitor, we decided to trim the box in mirror panels. The box was then assembled and trimmed in a contrasting blue carpet.

The Box

Seat Ibiza

Tim is definately addicted to the sound-off scene, so don`t be surprised if you see his car at an event.

A word of warning to any event organisers, make sure you carry an extra trophy or two, as Tim won`t shut up until he has one!

Fast Exit

Aaaarrrrggghhhhh!!! You can`t take me photo,
I`m in me work clothes!

And then he was gone.

But I have a feeling he`ll be back.
